The Home Front

In an effort to sale the rent house, we dropped the price by $4000 when the new photos of the refinished floors were updated on the MLS listing. Sweetheart and I have talked about possibly keeping the house if it doesn't sell by January. In which case, it will be a permanent rent house due to the tax liability. The mortgage is low enough to enough over twice the amount of the mortgage, but one tenant can wipe out a year's profit through damage and neglect.

The house has gotten about 15 lookers, but no offers. Hopefully, it'll happen quickly...

  1. If you end up having to rent, I recommend you find a company similar to the one we have in North Carolina. They only charge ten percent of the rent, and they handle finding renters, taking care of maintenance (which they take out of the rent if you're short on money), and they take care of problem tenants.

I wish you good luck selling. God bless.

    1. I'd rather be more hands on for the rental process. I've found that no one takes better care of things than when they are your own.

  2. Hint. Set a red potted plant on the step by front door (geranium, poinsettia what ever in season). Realtor told us this trick and it worked!! Makes people want to take a look. Sold several former rentals with this trick. Good luck. Let us know if it works. Worth a try.
