Kitchen Cleaning Post SHTF

Keeping the kitchen area clean after a SHTF scenario will be even more important. Can't have half the people sick from food poisoning while the harvest is at a critical time. One of the many chef that I worked under always had a very tight budget, even tighter when he opened his own restaurant. The only cleaning supplies that he kept for the kitchen were gallon sized pink soap and bleach. Of course, we had an automatic dishwasher, his name was Mark. Sorry, couldn't resist the joke, but we did have a commercial dishwasher and that made things easier to keep the kitchen clean.

Dishes or anything in the kitchen can be cleaned with liquid hand soap. It's mild enough on the hand, but tough enough for grease. Elbow grease goes a long ways into getting things clean.

Bleach is diluted into a 10% solution, with water, to make a "bleach bucket" for running clean up in the kitchen. We were usually given two towels for the shift. One for the bucket, and the other into the back pocket for an oven mitt, and final cleanup before going home.

We would occasionally make a small toxic solution of soap and bleach for the mop bucket. I'm talking about a dollop of pink soap and a one second splash of bleach. This does create a TOXIC GAS that can burn the lungs, but it does a great job on the floor! Don't do this.  Seriously.
