Lubricating the seals on some of the ammo cans |
Ammunition currently not available along with PMags ( 30 rd) |

I also did a partial inventory, and reorganization into the ammo cans. My goal is to prioritize the ammunition cans and ammo. A mixed bag will go into the number one ammo can: A mix of all calibers: .45, 9mm, 380, 5.56 and shotgun. The second can will be mostly 5.56/.223 with a little bit deeper stash for 9mm and .45. This way, if a rapid exit has to be made, all of the ammo is already sorted.
What do my fellow bloggers do in regards to storing ammo? I'd be interested in hearing what you have to say.
Keep Right On Prepping - K
I just returned from my local gun place about 4 hours south of you. Plenty of the common ammo (not 5.56/.223 however) on the shelves. I saw plenty of everything on your list there.
ReplyDeleteThey were up there in your area for the big show this weekend. He took his stock up there and from what I see of the empty gun cases, I'd be surprised if he didn't sell north of 100K in gun sales (not parts or ammo)
TEOTWAWKI had a post about ammo availablitity, seems your location is the exception. I'll do a post tomorrow about ammo that is available nationwide. Should be interesting. Take care.
DeleteNever thought about lubricating the seals.
ReplyDeleteWe keep all ours in ammo cans right now, too.
A Q tip and some Vaseline is all you need. About once a year is overkill. The first time I did them, they probably hadn't been done since they were manufactured.
DeleteNice job. I also use surplus ammo cans. It's to the point where I only shoot .22 caliber. Ammunition is too valuable to waste. It's a tangible asset I'd rater hoard.
ReplyDeleteVery true, range trips are going to be limited if I can't find any more ammo.
DeleteI am looking into making an atlatl, I don't think the feds will go after anything that isn't in their spell check.
ReplyDeleteI bet the show will be a zoo, I can't afford any ammo right now but have a decent supply in ammo boxes.
Yeah, I've already sold my Evil black guns. I was approached and offered a nice price, and am betting that I can buy 3 after the gun ban is defeated. Win-win as far as I'm concerned, legal or legal and owning 3 evil black guns.
DeleteSenior organized all of our ammo too. Looks like we have all been hard at work. He priced 30 AR Mags on cheaper then dirt for 99.00!
ReplyDelete$100 = Not happening or more money than brains
DeleteI'm not sure what our ammo supply looks like, but my husband is obsessed and cranky with the ban. There is a gun show this weekend, he is thinking like you K that he can sell a couple of guns for a crazy price and then when people need some money, buy them back cheap! I can't wait for it to be over with, so my husbands mood will improve.
ReplyDeleteIt made sense to me to sell the guns.
DeleteI'm a little cranky myself because of lack of ammo, and less time at the range because of it. Have your hubby fill out my ammo poll, if he is inclined.
