Toothfairy Alarm

Row lost a front tooth last night, and he was excited about the tooth fairy paying a visit. He is at that awkward stage where he believes, but has his doubts. So, he set up a tooth fairy alarm to see if it was the tooth fairy, or "really just the parents."

Through his own thought processes, he created the alarm pictured below with the available room resources.

Luckily, the tooth fairy was able to gently slide the block of wood across the floor, and sneak inside to replace the tooth with money. The tooth fairy was able to sneak across the room and make the swap out around 11:00 pm. The door was partially closed, with just enough room to reach inside, and reset the alarm.

This morning, the alarm was tripped when I entered the room, and Row went straight for the underside of his pillow. He smiled, and said that "the tooth fairy must really be magic". I think so too...I really do.

    1. We are trying to balance innocence and reality for as long as possible. I want them to be safe while still be kids. Make sense?

    2. sure it does...Our grandson will be 8 in July. He has always thought his Grandpa was Santa, white hair, white beard...etc. If Papa Bear asks him where he got a certain toy he will reply "don't you remember Grandpa?...you brought it to me". Just recently he has been asking Grandpa if he's sure he's Santa. I think friends are talking to him now. I thought Papa Bear handled it very well when he told Grandson he was positive he was Santa and someday he would have the job of being Santa.

    1. Luckily, they are both hard sleepers, and I put the tooth in an envelope near the outside edge of the pillow.

  3. That is cute! When my daughter lost her first tooth at age 6 she was already a cynic. After lots of questions, (where is the tooth fairy's office? How do you contact her to let her know? What does she do with the teeth? and on and on), my daughter went to bed but not to sleep. My sister was staying with us and around 2am got up to use the bathroom located right next to my daughter's bedroom. Chelsey ran out of her room into the dark hallway screaming "I've got you now, Tooth Fairy!" as she grabbed my sister. My sister was surprised and started yelling. This got my attention and I hurried out of my bedroom. After all the hysterics subsided, Chelsey said she had been awake all night waiting, heard Aunt Heidi walking down the hallway and knew she only had a few seconds to grab the Tooth Fairy. We still laugh about that night. I think my sister almost had a heart attack! We ended up just giving her a dollar for every tooth. My son likes the "under the pillow" event, though. We didn't do santa claus or easter bunny but for some reason we still had a tooth fairy.
