Fort Walton Vacation

We got back from Fort Walton beach about a week ago from our second summer vacation. I usually bring a computer so that I can work on my blog, but only brought my mini iPad. I wasn't able to post from my iPad with pictures...so no posts throughout the week.

We had a great time, even though  it rained 5 out of 7 days, I got a speeding ticket, and Row started the vacation with a trip to the MediQuick clinic for strep throat.

Lots of monopoly, clue, seafood, and going to the pool between rain showers. The Gulfquarium was a great afternoon treat. We spent the last full day of sunshine at The Big Kahuna water park in Destin on Tuesday.

Our friends from Arkansas were in Florida and drove across to visit for an afternoon. We went to the beach, and then to a nice restaurant before they drove back to their hotel.

Row, our ten year old on the left, is starting fifth grade and doing extremely well in school. He got all A's last year and made the Principal's Honor List, which is only given to one student per class per semester. He is our artist. He was the only student to have his artwork displayed outside the art room, which was a comic series on Minecraft over the course of several months.

The Doctor, our two year old in the middle, is into Masha and the Bear (Youtube it) and Blues Clues. He'll dance around with Steve or Joe during the show. He is already showing his charismatic personality, and seems to be the favorite of quite a few daycare workers. He's too cute. We are keeping his curls for now. His Daddy had curls when he was a toddler, a long long time ago...

Row, our seven year old, is still into the Nerf guns and Legos. He also made the A/B honor roll all last year. Mom and Dad are working with him more this year on spelling and reading for a better foundation. Overall,  he is our rough and tumble guy. In their after school program he has taken karate, print shop, and has a wide variety of interest. I can see him joining the military if his eyesight doesn't disqualify him...

We are doing our best to raise strong, smart young men.

Bad Blog Writer

I must admit that I've been a bad blog poster for a few weeks. No excuses, just busy with life and wanting to relax with my Ipad and lurk around on my favorite blogs.

The family made a beach trip to Myrtle Beach, SC and had a great time with another family, and both sets of parents. The beach and private pool was awesome, but the service in the restaurants was an "I don't care, because you'll never be back attitude." And they would be correct. The days of good service being the standard are behind us. Speaking of which, corporate came down from Georgia to visit and make an appearance at the clinic. We got a tip that one of the directors wanted to make sure that everyone had a name tag, so that she wouldn't have to remember anyone's name. As it usually goes, the name tags came two weeks after their visit, and mine was absent from the delivery. I got my name tag today in a seperate package, and par for the course, they misspelled my name.

Male!
The house is still on the market, with about 15 buyers having looked at it for about two months. New pictures will be taken of the refinished floors, and they do look gorgeous.

On the way to Myrtle Beach, we stayed over  in Atlanta with the intent on a visit to Legoland for the boys, but we forgot about the time change and it was too late to purchase tickets by the time we got in the metor area. We did however still surprise them on the way back home with a 3 hour pit stop at Legoland. The boys had a blast!

I'm gonna try to write about 15 minutes per day to make it a habit. More later...

Sweetheart

I've been saving a few dollars from my allowance every two weeks for Sweetheart's anniversary gift. I know that it seems odd for a grown man to have an allowance, but after our Dave Ramsey program it makes sense. Speaking of which, we have back charged a few items for the house, and will officially be in debt for a few months before I get a "real" job. Anyways, back to the allowance saving. I have been cashing in my change to make ones, and ones to make fives, etc since December. If I happened to have any money left on payday that also went into the gift fund.

The plan wasn't executed perfectly because I guessed that getting a picture framed would take less than a week. It takes two weeks, so I didn't have anything on our anniversary. I guess it was more of a surprise for her this way.

When my Sweetheart graduated college, her best friend and her decided to backpack Europe for six weeks from May until July 4th...Ireland, Scotland, France, Hungary, Italy, England, Germany, Vatican, and Switzerland. While she was in Paris, she had a street artist do a pastel portrait of her, and this is the picture that I got framed for her.

Big Announcement

Okay, I know that everyone has been waiting with anticipation about our big announcement, and today is finally the day. Can anyone guess what this picture is?

It's actually labeled for you, so you get two points. Now to answer the questions:

August 14th due date.
No, we are not going to find out the sex.
I have no rhythm.
Sweetheart is hoping for a girl
I'm hoping for a  boy.
Realistically, we are praying for a healthy baby.

So, we are adding another addition to our clan, and excited about the little prospect of another worker around the house. The boys are super excited about it too.

When we were doing prayers Row wanted to feel the baby. Sweetheart tried to explain that the baby was only about the size of an egg. Row felt on her belly and said that she needed to lose some weight so that the baby would have some more room. Sweetheart, "Thanks". Red Ant, not wanting to be left out, started with his hand at the belly and kept feeling upward. He proudly smiled and said that he "felt the baby's head", to which Sweetheart told him that he was feeling her booby.

Prayers and Thoughts

My father-in-law was take to the hospital where I work today by ambulance. We think that he had fallen on Monday, and wasn't found until this afternoon. He has severe sleeping problems, so for a few days to go by without him answering the phone isn't out of the norm. A close friend that often checks on him found him on the bathroom floor, and seriously dehydrated. Sweetheart made it over, but not before the ambulance crew had hm en route to the ER.

Anyways, he is recovering in Cardiac ICU and he has likely had a heart attack. He is intubated and getting settled into his room. It's still early in the prognosis but keep Ed in your thoughts. I'll update as time allows. Any prayers or warm thoughts sent his way would be greatly appreciated.
