No MRE Post Today....

...but I do have a big pot of chicken and dumplings on the stove. The recipe can be found here.

The dumplings are ready.

The stock is almost at a boil for the dumplings.

The chicken and dumplings are a nice change with the colder weather. What food do you like to prepare when the weather turns cooler?

  1. I like to cook from my preparedness supplies in the cooler weather -- practicing in the heat runs up the power bill. First fall dish was split green pea w/bacon soup, all from storage (bacon bits from Costco then vacuum sealed). Last week we made some beef burgundy w/noodles and chicken madeira w/rice (2 different days) for a neighbor who just had foot surgery. Both were good warming meals. Soon, the pumpkin pies!

    1. Chicken madeira w/ rice...I'll have to look that one up. The pumpkin pies are a favorite of mine, and sweet potato too.

    2. Basically, I used a chicken marsala recipe, but was out of marsala, so used madeira. It was yummy.

  2. I like Chili, and beef stew. Clam chowder, too.
