Of All the Luck

My wife walked into the dollar store to pick up some paper plates for church. Two dollars worth of paper plates. The change made the distinct sound of silver hitting her palm. Her eyes lit up, she sweetly smiled and said, "Thank you, have a great day!" She got to the car and showed me the "real" money, a 1962 Quarter. It's worth $3.96 according to coinflation..

It'll be residing in her silver treasure chest. It's not every day you can make money by shopping.

  1. I haven't got one in awhile, I can remember when all the money was silver. So many things changed in 1965, that was one of the starting points that sent the country to ruin.

    1. Such a dark way to look at it, but I prefer to think that someone didn't realize the value of it.

  3. Stephen has a real point. When I worked as a cashier a few years ago I would see that very scenario play out frequently.

    1. And as a retail worker I was there ready and waiting as well. I collected a small treasure one evening in silver half dollars when Beavis and Butthead came in and bought a carton of cigarettes.

    2. I worked as a cashier for a catering company and I have a gallon size ziploc back full of silver coins I collected while working that job. I had people pay me in SILVER DOLLARS on a frequent basis. I had one guy bring in an old Morgan and I felt bad, I even told him I couldn't give him more than 1 dollar for it and it was worth far more. He didn't care he just wanted chicken strips, so he got his chicken and I got another coin for the collection.
